Elvis

In class Friday, we watched a movie on Elvis Presley.  I knew he acted as a stepping stone in making America a more liberal country, appealing to teenage girls with his good looks and swinging hips.  However, I had no idea his influence on America in the 1950's was so great; not only fighting for sexuality, but women liberation, integration, teenage rebellion, etc.  He's more than the king of rock n' roll.

Ariana, you're totally right. I felt the same way, unaware of Elvis' major impact on the people of the 1950's. I, too, see his accomplishments of social unity, mostly among the younger crowd, but also of the races.
